MISSION

Velocipede Bike Project provides access to second hand bicycles and hands-on education in a shared workspace.

VISION

We envision a future where bicycling is no longer an alternative form of transportation and has become a seamless part of a healthy urban environment.  We envision a culture of mutual support that brings people together from across all backgrounds to form a strong bicycle-using community.  Through reuse, recycling, and dedication to the enduring value of the bicycle we envision a city with bikes on the street and out of the waste stream.

programming

Velocipede is dedicated to teaching people bicycle maintenance and helping people repair their bikes with a hands-off approach, in an effort to instill confidence and knowledge retention. During Open Shop people repair their bikes with our assistance and have access to specialized bicycle tools.

The Vintage Bicycle Mechanics Class imparts a foundational, in-depth understanding of bicycle function, maintenance, and adjustment.

We partner with other nonprofit organizations through our Baltimore Bicycle Aid program, providing individuals with reliable bike transportation at no cost to the applicant.
