Frequently Asked Questions about Velocipede Bike Project

Below you'll find a list of frequently asked questions. Please read this and if there are questions that is not covered by the FAQ feel free to email us. Thanks.

What are Velocipede's hours?
Our hours are posted on the front page of the site. Hours change during the winter and for some holidays. Make sure to check the calendar and the front page for up to date info.

When are women's nights?
Women's nights are second and fourth Mondays. Please check our Google calendar on the home page to know if it is that Monday! We have meetings on the other Mondays.

How do I volunteer?
Just show up at the shop during open hours. No emails or pre-registration is required.

Can young people come to the shop?
Certainly, but if you are under 16, you will need a parent or guardian. If you're 16-18 we request that you provide us with written permission (including a number we will call to verify) from a parent or guardian.

I don't have any experience working on bicycles. Do you still need me?
That is OK, we need people to teach. We all start somewhere.

Do you sell bicycles?
We sell a a handful of bicycles a month. However, they go very quickly. Please visit the shop to see what we have. Bicycle availability is very unpredictable. If you need something specific right away, your best bet might be purchasing a new bicycle.

What kind of bikes do we have available for Build-a-Bike or purchase?
All the bicycles in our shop are donations. We rarely have the newest carbon fiber bicycles but we do have a bunch of three speeds, cool 80s road bikes, and mountain bikes. [ top ]

What parts do you have for sale?
Lots of parts. So many parts that I won't be much help via email. You will just have to visit the shop. We don't sell new parts so you might have to visit your local bike shop if you need something fairly modern.

Can I make a trade?
Sorry, we don't make trades. You can earn parts with work-trade hours or purchase them with cash.

When/where can make a donation?
You might drop off donations during any open shop hours.

Can Velocipede pick up donations.
It really depends on the situation; email us with a description of the bikes, location, your availability. We can't guarantee we will arrange for a pickup but we might it's not too far and there are enough bikes to justify us driving a truck out there.

Do you take other donations?
Tools, building materials, shop furniture, lockers, etc.are all welcome.
